Béal a’ Creachaire (Bay of the Plunderer) is an 11 mile long sea inlet running from Mulranny in the south to Innisbiggle in the North with Achill on the west and Ballycroy to the east.
As the name suggests, the bay has a exciting history, smuggling, piracy, Normans, The Spanish Armada, Granuaile to mention a few.
The bay is home to Bellacragher Bay Boat club (est. 2003), a group of local sailing enthusiasts who have been successful in getting local people back on the water and rekindling the old sailing techniques using traditional craft and the latest in high tech Catamarans.
People wishing to explore the bay and make their own discoveries, island-hop, Day/pleasure sailing and basic navigation or try out some high speed sailing are ensured a warm welcome.
For those that would like to have a taste of sailing, the swell free and sheltered bay provides a scenic and safe location.
