Greenway Adventures in Mayo
at Mulranny Park Hotel
Greenway Adventures is a collection of 11 Mayo-based adventure tourism providers that, together, form the county’s first adventure trail.
The trail comprises land and water-based activities, allowing tourists the opportunity to mix and match a myriad of adventure activities in one area. All activities are based near to and along the route of the Great Western Greenway. These include rock climbing, abseiling, fishing, wind sailing, sailing & kite surfing and paddle boarding as well as hiking/walking and equestrian pursuits.
The Great Western Greenway meanders 42km along the line of the famous Westport to Achill railway, which closed in 1937, and the route runs directly behind Mulranny Park Hotel. The Greenway is an exhilarating outdoor experience and offers incredible scenery along its route, such as Clew Bay, Croagh Patrick and the Nephin Beg mountain range.
Launching Greenway Adventures, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said: “I am delighted to wish Greenway Adventures well with this great addition to Mayo’s tourism offering. Tourism will play a key role in Ireland’s recovery. The development of innovative tourism products which exploit the country’s natural advantages, such as adventure tourism, can tap into a significant potential market.”
The Greenway Adventures members are:
| Clew Bay Angling | Clew Bay Bike Hire | Blackfield Surf School | Mulranny Walking Guides | Saoirse na Mara Sea Kayaking | Pure Magic (kitesurfing & paddle boarding) | Bellagragher Bay Boat Club (traditional and high-speed sailing) | Calvey’s Equestrian | Rock le Tomas (rock-climbing, abseiling) | Professional Coaching Services (windsurfing) | Surf Mayo
